Last year, Stockdale's football team was absolutely awful. They had one their worst seasons in a few years. I can only assume that the teams demise led to his resignation. However, I believe he had the opportunity to move into an administrative position.
Once it was annonced that Mike Snow would take the helm it was made clear by some of the staff they wanted nothing to do with the new coach. I believe this is mainly because they hired an outsider, not someone from inside the staff. Mike Snow came from Frontier, and not Stockdale. It has become an unsettling trend at Stockdale to hire people who are not currently on staff. For example, Terrance Hubbert was hired a Varsity Boy's Basketball coach (a walk on), Amanda Hockett Varsity softball (another walk on), and now Mike Snow from Frontier.
I have always been a believer in the Wing-T. It has seemed in my observation that the misdirection really creates an advantage for the offensive team. However, I don't believe that it will overcome extreme discrepencies in talent between two teams. I am really intrigued by the spread Wing-T although I have no experience in it. The concepts of the offense are very interesting and tweaking with various alignments I believe could benefit the team in various ways. There are some teams who are the double tight with two wing backs and tailback. I think that you have to go beyond this to have some level of success. The Wing-T in my opinion is the great equalizer.
Last years team and coaching staff tried to jump on the spread offense and was bucked off and was embarressed the whole season. There offensive system was so predicatable and limited it was embarassing. Although, I only observed a few games. I threw up so much after the games I refused to go back until things changed. The spread can present some problems for limited teams, such as Stockdale. However, with very athletic teams it can open up a world of opportunity. I believe some combination of the two systems: spread and wing-T are the answer.
So my question is, Is the Wing-T the difference? Is the new coach the difference? Are the players the difference?
I was very impressed with the win at BHS, especially after School House Zach made such a big deal about the Drillers and how great they were this year.
